Dear students, welcome to Course 10, the final course in our continuing-education curriculum. Here we move from personal growth to communal responsibility, learning how to build, strengthen, and lead vibrant Jewish communities in the spirit of our Temani/Baladi tradition.
As proud Temani Jews, we approach community life with the same balance we bring to all our study: strict on the essential halakhot of beit knesset, minyan, leadership, and ahavat Yisrael, yet delightfully practical and joyful in their application. Drawing primarily from the Rambam’s clear rulings on communal structure, the Mishnah’s ethical teachings on leadership and unity, and the living example of Moshe Rabbeinu as the ideal leader, this course equips you to participate actively and constructively in synagogue and kehillah life.
Over four modules we cover:
- Module 47 – Synagogue Life: Structure, etiquette, minyan, Torah reading, and special events.
- Module 48 – Community Roles: The rabbi, gabbai, women’s participation, and youth education.
- Module 49 – Leadership Principles: Qualities of a leader, da’at Torah, conflict resolution, and ahavat Yisrael.
- Module 50 – Outreach and Growth: Welcoming gerim and baalei teshuvah, tzedakah projects, festival planning, and long-term community building.
By the end of this course you will have the knowledge, skills, and hashkafa to contribute meaningfully to your kehillah, help build unity, and help transmit our mesorah to the next generation.
